
Idris A. Rai is currently an Associate Professor in Communication Networks at Makerere University and served as Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs) in the then Faculty of Computing and IT until when it was named the School of Computing and Informatics Technologies late 2010. He also served as a member of Makerere University Senate and a member of the Makerere University Council Committee on ICT. He has served in a number of Senate committees such as Academic Program and Library Committee and other Senate ad-hoc committees.
He holds a PhD in Communications Networks, awarded with highest honor in 2004 at ENST-Telecom ParisTech, France. He then worked as a senior researcher in Lancaster University, UK for three years. He then joined Makerere University in 2007 after 14 years of pursuing his higher education outside the African continent.
