Dean
Dr. Josephine Nabukenya

Josephine has a PhD in Information Systems (Collaboration Engineering) from Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Her doctoral research focused on improving the quality of organizational policy making using Collaboration Engineering. Her current research interests centre on: Designing of, and field applications of collaboration processes (Collaboration Engineering); Collaborative Decision Making; Analysis, Design and Modeling of Processes; and Requirements Engineering. She is also a reviewer for several conferences such as HICSS, ECIS, ICCIR, etc. Josephine lectures both in the departments of Information Systems and Information Technology, respectively. Associate Prof. Idris A. Rai

He joined Makerere University in October 2004, after he had completed his three year post-doctorate in the Department of Computing, Lancaster University, UK. Under the supervision of Prof. Ernst Biersack, Dr. Rai obtained his PhD with the highest honour in 2004 from ENST-Telecom ParisTech (formerly Télécom Paris) in France. His PhD work focused on designing and analyzing mechanisms to support Quality of Service in Edge Routers of IP networks. In 2000, he obtained MSc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, where he majored in Telecommunications. His BSc. degree is also in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which he was awarded with honours in 1998 by Bogazici University. [pfd].

Dr. Jude Lubega

PhD in Computer Science (E-Learning), he has good ICT skills, knowledge of Data Warehousing (Data mining, OLAP), Relational Database Systems, E-Commerce & other related current ICT issues. He has made several publications in both journals and international conferences concerning e-learning. Dr. Jude is also Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Technology at the Faculty of Computing and Informatics Technology Makerere University. He acts as the research advisor for the department of Information Technology. Formerly a researcher and Tutor in the School of Systems Engineering at the University of Reading. He has been involved in teaching since 2003 to date and has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research interests are in E-Learning (Tracking, Feedback, Assessment, Repositories, instructional design, multimedia), E-Commerce, Data Warehousing (Data mining, OLAP), Software Agents and Business Modelling. Dr. John Ngubiri

John is a lecturer in the department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computing and Informatics Technology, Makerere University. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. His Doctoral research was in resource management in parallel computers/mini-grids. His Teaching interests are in database systems, parallel systems, queing systems, programming and Security. His Research interests are in Performance and Optimimization of Computer Systems and Security.
 
Florence Tushabe

Florence Tushabe

Florence is a lecturer in the department of Information Technology. She holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Makerere University and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from the University of Dar-es-salaam. Her PhD research was in image processing, specifically extending attribute filters to color processing and other multimedia applications such as ones to improve content-based image retrieval, watermarking, image compression and automatic road sign detection.
Florence teaches on both Bachelors and Masters programs courses like database management systems, IT security, computer vision, image processing and Management Information Systems. She is a researcher and consultant in the same fields.

 
Dr. Agnes Semwanga Head, Department of Information Systems
Dr. Agnes Rwashana Semwanga  

PhD in Computer Science (majoring in Information Systems and Systems Modelling). She holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science and a BSc Education (Hons). Currently, she serves as a Lecturer in the Information Systems Department at the Faculty of Computing and Informatics Technology, Makerere University and has recently submitted her PhD thesis where she applied systems modelling and simulation to healthcare. She is a competent manager and principle centred leader, self-motivated, results oriented, trustworthy and a distinguished researcher and academic.

Ms. Peace Tumuheki B.

Master of Arts degree in Development Studies Peace Tumuheki is currently the faculty registrar. She has worked with Makerere University for nine years and with an Undergraduate Degree in Bachelor of Arts with Education. At the faculty, her duties include coordination and handling of matters regarding students’ registration, examination, general academic administration and secretary to the CIT management committee.Peace is also the Project Administrator for the Nuffic Project ‘Strengthening ICT Training and Research Capacity in the Four Public Universities in Uganda’, and has extensive experience and training in Administration and Management.
