Makerere University Faculty of Computing & IT through the Department of Networks conducted a 200hour industrial oriented course in computer systems engineering. Through the course the student were able to implement the following projects:
1)DIGITAL LIGHTS DISPLAY
2)MICROCONTROLLER BASED CLOCK
3)TRAFFIC LIGHTS CONTROL
4)TOY CAR
5)SENSOR SECURITY SYSTEM
6)DIGITAL LIGHT SWITCH
7)PROXIMITY COUNTER USING A MICROCONTROLLER
8)TEMPERATURE MONITOR
9)TEMPERATURE REGULATOR
10)COMPUTER CONTROLLED LIGHT SWITCH
The course is conducted using the latest computer systems engineering tools and equipment. The course aims at bridging the current skills gap in the area of computer systems design, development, fabrication and digital modules repairing. The course modules include: l Basic Electronics l Digital Technology l Microprocessor Technology l Computer System programming l Embedded Systems l Digital Systems Design l Digital Systems Maintenance (Troubleshooting & Repair) l Project (Started at the beginning of the course) At the end of the course students are expected to demonstrate the mastery of knowledge by build simple digital systems like motion toys, control switches, among other.
